Ndeze & Ndakasi are the only two baby, orphan Mount Gorillas in captivity in the world. Their mothers were murdered in a politically motivated attack in Virunga National Park, DRC. The park authorities looked after them as best they could in the dusty and dangerous city of Goma until they had built this wonderful gorilla orphanage in the forest, near the park headquarters. The orphans were moved to the orphanage in December 2009. Visit www.gorilla.cd to find out more about the struggle to protect this critically endangered species.
